Heide Smith - A South Coast Selection

People

One of the first things we noticed when we moved to the South Coast, was the friendliness of the people. Both Heide and Brian spent their childhoods in relatively small semi-rural communities, where people always greeted you and asked how you were. Quite different to living in a city. So we where delighted with the South Coast, especially Tuross Head where we now live. That’s not to say that the South Coast doesn’t have any characters. It has heaps of them, and here's one; artist Bob Baker in 2016 in Bodalla.

Places

The other wonderfull feature of the NSW South Coast, is the location. Superb beaches, backed by the Great Dividing Range and forests, and beachfront boulders laid down 230 - 500 million years ago.  Selecting landscapes for this exhibition was more a matter of what to leave out, rather than what to incluse. And the climate is a massive improvement after our 20 years of living in Canberra. The shot below "East Walk Hobbs Point", was taken in 2008 at our previous home in Narooma.
